Mr. Kee Chong LI KWONG WING ( KC Li ), GOSK, holds a B.Sc. (Econ) from the London School of Economics, a Masters degree (LLM) in International Tax Law from St Thomas University School of Law, Florida, USA, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Planning from the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Holland.
He commenced his professional journey as a Lecturer in Public Finance at the University of Mauritius and later served as Project Manager at the Mauritius Cooperative Bank. He spearheaded crucial tax and capital market reforms, culminating in the establishment of the Unified Revenue Service and the Mauritius Stock Exchange. Holding influential positions, including Chairman of the Stock Exchange Commission, KC Li also contributed significantly as a Board member to key state enterprises and statutory bodies, solidifying his impact on Mauritius' economic landscape.
KC Li played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the Mauritian financial sector. He founded the first mutual fund in collaboration with the Government and the insurance sector, subsequently leading the successful launch and management of the initial Unit Trust, gaining approval for global market investments. Additionally, his innovative contributions extended to the establishment of the first Property Fund and pioneering MITCO, offering financial services to international clients and shaping the financial landscape of Mauritius.
In his outstanding contributions to the economic, social, and political spheres earned him esteemed recognition, including the 'Grand Officer of the Star and Key' (GOSK) from the Republic of Mauritius, 'Lifetime Achievement' Award by Banker Africa, and others. Furthermore, his global influence was underscored by his instrumental role in founding the Inter-Bank Association between China and African Countries during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing in September 2018, solidifying his position as a Founder Council Member of this consortium of major African banks and China Development Bank.
Currently, KC Li holds positions on several boards, including Chairman, Union Pay Africa, African Export-Import Bank(Afreximbank), Afrexinsure and various emerging funds such as the China Hedge Fund, Carbon Neutrality Fund and Asia Pacific Real Estate Funds within Value Partners. He is also a member of the Kisumu Economic and Social Council in Kenya. In addition, KC Li takes on a mentorship role, guiding a team of journalists and researchers in the publication of "The Investor's Mag," an esteemed economic journal accessible at investorsmag.media.
